                STEPHEN C WILSON : SONGWRITER AND MUSICIAN 

Stephen C Wilson is a musician and songwriter from Cambridge, UK. 

Stephen has been involved in the music industry in general and the Cambridge music scene for many years, playing in bands as diverse as Java, The Burning Thorns, The Scutters and more recently and currently Sound Menagerie with vocalist Abi Parker. He plays guitar and bass guitar, sings and has also worked as a session bass player.

His songwriting is very prolific and he has a catalogue of songs numbering several hundred, the majority of which have yet to be professionally recorded or released.

Stephen has written, recorded and released several albums of his original songs, including Sound Menagerie albums (the first was Mirror The Change' in 2006) and then with vocalist Abi Parker ( 'Far Or Through' 2011, 'Clocks & Towers' 2015 and 'House Of Yesterdays' 2017 ) and his music has been played on several radio stations in the UK and around the world. When recording 'Clocks & Towers' he worked with Stereolab's Andy Ramsay and Joe Watson who contributed drums and keys to the album. It was primarily recorded at Press Play Studio in London and was also produced by Andy Ramsay. One of the songs from this album 'Watermark' also features a lead guitar solo from Rowan Robertson (Dio/ DC4/Vast) and violin by Sharon Sullivan.

In 2021 Sound Menagerie released a single 'Close The Door' which features a lead guitar solo by Echobelly's Glenn Johansson.

As well as writing for his band and solo projects, Stephen writes a wide range of songs suitable for many music and vocal styles. He has also recorded many low fi instrumental and experimental tracks on various mediums including cassette four track recordings through to high end digital recordings using the latest software. He does profess to having an affinity particularly with old school reel to reel recording. 

Stephen is currently working on various new music projects including compiling a Mark Wirtz Anthology CD box set. which will be entitled 'Dream, Dream , Dream' on behalf of the Mark Wirtz Estate and Cherry Red Records.  Stephen has also completed a selection of remixes of Mark Wirtz material which will be included on the box set. He is also currently working on his own personal music projects.
